Lokeren, April 29, 2020 - Belgian web shops and providers will soon be able to easily offer an extra payment method for online purchases with the electronic meal and eco vouchers from Sodexo and Monizze. To this end, the payment service provider Mollie is the first in Belgium to enter into a partnership with the two popular publishers of meal and eco vouchers in our country. By offering consumers this additional payment method when shopping online, the three parties also hope to give the Belgian economy a boost.
Push in the back for the restart of Belgian retail and catering
E-commerce is experiencing exponential growth, partly as a result of the coronavirus and quarantine. Mollie, together with Sodexo and Monizze, wants to offer Belgian consumers the widest possible range of purchasing options in times of ‘social distancing’. For many Belgians who use meal and eco vouchers from Monizze and Sodexo, this constitutes an important part of the household budget. Because they can now also pay for their online purchases with these meal and eco vouchers, we are making it even easier for consumers to support Belgian shops and catering businesses that have been affected by COVID-19.
Please note: meal and eco vouchers can also only be used online for food on the one hand, and for environmentally friendly purchases on the other.
Mollie provides online stores with payment options and makes them easy to integrate on e-commerce sites and apps. “We ensure that consumers can pay for all their online purchases in an easy and secure way, whether through Bancontact, their credit card, Apple Pay or Paypal. Electronic meal and eco vouchers will therefore be added to this list in the future.” says Célia Boon, Country Manager Belgium at Mollie.
A large number of companies have already informed Mollie that they are interested in integrating the new payment method in their webshop as soon as it is available, including Neuhaus< /a> and the online supermarket Hopr for meal vouchers and DPG Media, Game Mania, Mediahuis et Do-it-yourself market for the eco vouchers.
“Eco vouchers and meal vouchers can only be used to buy products in Belgium. This is therefore certainly a strong boost for the further development of e-commerce in our country.” Safeshops and BeCommerce, the umbrella webshop quality marks in our country, also agree.
