Amsterdam and Maastricht, December 7, 2021 - Mollie, one of the fastest growing payment processors in Europe, today announces that it will open a new fintech Center of Excellence in Maastricht, the Netherlands. The center will be an extension of Mollie's Amsterdam headquarters, allowing the company to scale and drive growth for its 125,000+ customers. The Maastricht fintech Center of Excellence will accommodate new employees working in a wide range of departments, including development, operations and customer experience. The launch follows the €665 million Series C financing round announced in June led by Blackstone Growth, making Mollie one of the most valuable private fintech companies in Europe.
With the new Center of Excellence office in the bustling city center of Maastricht, Mollie wants to create a modern and relaxed environment in which new employees can feel at home. Mollie’s culture has made the company popular with its current employees. Glassdoor has named Mollie one of the best fintechs to work for in the Netherlands. The company has also received certification from Great Place to Work.
Mollie chose Maastricht because of the diverse and international labor supply, with more than 63 languages spoken in the city. This allows Mollie to serve a wide range of markets from the hub, in particular its French, Dutch, German and English-speaking customers and partners. Maastricht is known for its excellent educational institutions, and many graduates choose to live in the city after their studies. That is why Mollie plans to work with local universities and schools to provide presentations and workshops to support students in their entry into professional life.
More broadly, Mollie plans to become an important part of the Maastricht ecosystem, partnering with local businesses to help them grow, and supporting regional non-profit organizations as part of initiatives in the field of responsible business.
