Gunther Ghysels — CEO Get Driven.

Getting driven around in your own car by a private chauffeur? Gunther Ghysels, from the Flemish company Get Driven, has found the solution for business people who don’t want to lose any time, but simply want to continue working during a drive. Gunther launched his app in 2019, but quickly faced a cash flow problem. “At one point we had half a million euros of unpaid invoices”, he says. “Since we started working with Mollie, that has been solved.”

"Customers could easily book a ride via the app or the desktop platform, but they only received the invoice afterwards. We actually had no guarantee whatsoever. "

Turning travel time into work time, that’s what Get Driven is all about. By using the app, a customer can register and find a private driver who will take him or her to work, a meeting, a lunch appointment or an event. “Our customers are mainly business people who lose too much time behind the wheel. When one of our private drivers takes the wheel, the customer can make phone calls, prepare for a meeting or write a report in peace, during the car journey”, Gunther explains.

A serious cash flow problem

From the launch in early 2019, it was clear that the entrepreneur had found a gap in the market. Businessmen had tasted the convenience and wanted more. Get Driven attracted more and more customers, the rides were piling up, the private chauffeurs were in demand. But Gunther ran into a serious issue: cash flow. “Customers could easily book a ride using the app or the desktop platform, but they only received the invoice afterwards. We really didn’t have any guarantee of quick payment”, explains Gunther.

In the long run, this caused problems. Customers delayed payments, or the invoices ended up in the spam folder. A customer who had already hired a private chauffeur for 20,000 euro, but had never paid? That was no exception, Gunther sighs. “At one point we had half a million euros in unpaid invoices. We had to do something urgently.”

"We will certainly be including Mollie in our plans abroad. On the one hand, it’s extremely useful to be able to maintain this uniformity and on the other, be able to monitor the statistics via the Mollie platform."

Increasing user-friendliness

Gunther had talked to all kinds of partners to solve his cash flow problem, but for him, Mollie stood out. “It quickly became clear that Mollie offered all the functionalities we needed. I thought it was important to be able to offer customers different payment options. Not only the most logical ones, like Bancontact, but also American Express, for example”, says Gunther. “That’s important, in the context of our international ambitions.”

Get Driven now also has offices in London and Berlin. The app has not yet been launched there – corona threw a spanner in the works – but Gunther hopes to be able to get everything up and running this year. “We will certainly be including Mollie in our plans abroad. On the one hand, It’s extremely useful to be able to maintain this uniformity and on the other, be able to track how many people in which countries pay in which ways using the Mollie platform. It’s always handy to have such insights.”
